Golfing Lessons: The History of Golf

Some historians believe that golf was founded in Netherlands. The words kolf in Dutch means ‘club’. . In fact, there are some other references outside England that mentioned this game on their literature just like the one in Egypt which refers to a golf-like game played by Pharaohs. Or in China an 11th century book mentioned something called Chuiwan that refers to a game which involved a stick and a small ball to be played. However, the Romans already played the game with stick and balls made of feathers that could be the origins of golf. It was already played long time ago yet the game known today was devised by the Scots in 14th or 15th century. This game became so popular in Scotland therefore when someone wanted to play this game, they should have been practicing archery, a military necessity, and the Scottish parliament passed a special law in 1457
However, the Scottish people ignored those rules. In early 16th century, James IV, a king of Scotland, began to play golf. His granddaughter, Mary, the Queen of Scot, played this game on France when she was raised. In England, the game became popular because of James VI of Scotland, James I of England, and Charles I.
The term caddie was defined from the word ‘cadet’ meaning pupils. Long time ago, some young men which was attending the game played by the Queen of Scot known as cadet. Sometimes ago, caddies was an integral part of the game but now it has been replaced by motorized carts and pull carts on many courses. This is also a fact that no matter how exclusive golf is, it can still adapt with the current era. And the fact is now there are a lot of online golf courses that will certainly make those who cannot play become some kind of expert in doing the golf game.
